<Arts Talk>The Wine for Music Fans

Should we pair wine with music? Of course, the answer is yes. Since we always enjoy wine and music together, it's worth thinking about how to pair them.

Full-bodied, Spicy Syrah vs Blues Music

Full-bodied Syrah, especially from the New World, can hit your nerves in a flash. Not only that, but Syrah also often has tastes of blueberries in terms of fruit, that go well with music with a bluesy feel.

Earthy, Smooth Pinot Noir vs Folk Music

A good Pinot Noir can take on a modern and rustic quality. Cranberry and soft vanilla, mixed with mushrooms, sometimes like wet leaves or grass. That is instantly conquered, and Folk songs are very suitable for such a restrained temperament. When the summer is slowly passing away and you fall into a warm autumn afternoon, you should have an elegant Pinot Noir in your wine glass and listen to folk songs to relax slowly.

Dry Riesling vs Country Music

If folk music and Pinot Noir represent autumn, Riesling and country music represents summer. Country music is a hidden gem, as is Riesling wine. Riesling is crisp and aromatic, with a lingering minerality on the finish. Just like the simple and natural notes in country music, people want to sway along with it.

Sparkling Wine and Crisp Champagne, Rock Music

Rock music is as colourful as wine. Rock music is a very punchy sound base, seems like it should not pair with a fancy dress party like champagne. But when we drill into the music piece of Steve Winwood, especially his 80s album, such as "Higher Love" and "Back in the High Life Again", the sound is light, fresh and pop. You will find a similar rhythm in the songs like "I want a New Drug" and "Heart of Rock n' Roll" by Huey Lewis. All this music reminds me and give me the taste of champagne and sparkling wine.

Have you found your music and wine yet?
